WHO IS ZIPS?
Kevin "Zips" Zulueta continues his family's century-aged legacy with a brand of his own. Zips is the grandson of comedian and Cuban icon, Leopoldo Fernandez, "Tres Patines" or "Pototo" (1904 – 1985). His grandfather's work lives on in the internationally recognized radio program, "La Tremenda Corte", still presented today. It is this genetic pedigree of showmanship that drives this exceptionally talented performer.
Zips was previously employed with Loren Medina at Sony BMG Latin in 2008, Miami Beach, for 3 months doing anything and everything for her. He soon realized his passion and yearning for the musical side of the business, and made acquaintance with Cool, of “Cool and Dre” at a Grammy seminar, at the University of Miami. He introduced himself with hopes of working with him in the future. Weeks later, he received an anticipated phone call, and has been closely associated with him for 3 years. Zips interned for the first year, and recognized his chance, when an opening for an engineering position developed.
Currently an audio engineer for Don Trip, Zips oversees projects; recording, mixing and mastering. Noted projects to date include: The “Step Brothers” mixtape; a Don Trip and Star Lito collaboration, which received #7, on the top 40 albums of 2011 in Spin Magazine. Along with Cool and Dre, he has also worked at Conway Studios, in LA, as well as others in Memphis, San Francisco, Miami and more.
His journey as a music advocate was put on hold as he transitioned into the role of an entry level position for a telemarketing company in hopes of obtaining finical stability. This blossomed into a career path over the course of 2015 to winter of 2021 where he is now dedicating his efforts to pursuing his passion of music full time.
